DOMINO - LA STORIA SIAMO NOI

A TIMELESS PROJECT
Domino-La Storia siamo noi Domino-La Storia siamo noi

An artistic project that reinterprets the historical form of the polyptych to represent the network of relationships that structures contemporary society.

This large polyptych does not arise from a reference to models from art history, but from the need to give visual form to an idea: every human being is connected to others, directly or indirectly, through their own story, past and present.

Our lives intertwine through thoughts, emotions, and shared experiences — sometimes in a deep and continuous way, as in family or romantic bonds; sometimes in a fleeting or episodic way, as when we ask a stranger for directions and will never meet them again; at other times in a mediated form, when figures distant in space or time, historical characters or personalities from television, still enter our experience and contribute to shaping it.

Even without direct contact, every encounter leaves a trace.
The idea, then, is that, despite each individual’s uniqueness, humanity appears as a single great polyptych: each of the 16 paintings that make up Domino is autonomous and complete in itself, yet its scene continues into the neighboring panels, together forming a unified vision. This image alludes to a future grounded in the awareness that no one, however different, is truly separate: distinct identities, yet participants in a shared collective soul.

In summary, Domino is a metaphor for collective consciousness and invites the viewer to recognize themselves within this interwoven fabric, where personal identity and universal belonging define one another.

The sections of this page explore the different aspects of the project: the structure of the polyptych, the process that led to its creation, the sixteen panels that compose it, and the exhibitions in which the work has been presented.
