Biography

ARTIST STATEMENT

-Painter, Illustrator, Editorial graphic-

My work explores interior, subtle, and distant worlds—spaces that cannot be described literally, but instead reveal themselves through perception, memory, and imagination.
What we are is shaped by the continuous interplay between lived experiences, relationships, thoughts, emotions, and dreams: fragments that form an ever-changing inner mosaic.

In my paintings, my aim is to open access to these invisible spaces, drawing the viewer into a suspended dimension where distant sensations, remembered images, and forgotten emotions resurface. Each work becomes an invitation to contemplation and imagination, allowing each viewer to discover their own stories, their own inner places, faces, and times.

For this reason, nothing in my paintings is represented in a strictly realistic way: neither figures nor environments are literal depictions of reality, but rather metaphysical forms and dreamlike dimensions. Interiors and exteriors merge, as do the conscious and the unconscious, the real and the symbolic, in spaces where time and distance dissolve.

To express this vision, I work with traditional oil painting techniques as well as drawing, using a glazing process. This layered method allows me to build depth, light, and transparency, bringing forth images in which thoughts, emotions, and memories become perceptible.

The result is work that is not only meant to be viewed, but experienced inwardly—opening a personal and unique space for each viewer.

BIOGRAPHY

-Painter, Illustrator, Editorial graphic-

Davide Querin is best known as the painter of transparencies.
Through his works, viewers are invited to step into parallel dimensions, explore distant worlds, and discover their own stories within every setting, face, and moment.

He graduated in Visual Arts from ISIA Urbino, presenting a thesis on editorial illustration inspired by "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov. He later refined his skills in Renaissance painting at the studio of painter Luigi Quintili, where he mastered the use of glazes—techniques that gave a unique twist to his surrealist influences.

He discovered and studied the works of numerous Argentine artists such as Thibon de Libian, Quinquela Martin, Carlos Alonso, Castagnino and Xul Solar, whose works fascinated him.

Querin has received numerous awards and recognitions and his paintings have been featured on the sets of several TV films, including "Primo cittadino" with Tullio Solenghi and "L'una e l'altra" with Christopher Lambert.

He has also worked extensively as both an editorial and fine art illustrator on commission.

His works are part of private collections across Italy, France, the United States, Finland, Germany, Israel, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Switzerland.

He also creates commissioned, theme-based paintings upon request.
