DOMINO - THE POLYPTYCH

DOMINO is a contemporary polyptych measuring 3 × 3 meters, composed of sixteen oil paintings on canvas (75 × 75 cm each). The work draws on the historical form of the polyptych—traditionally used in European art to organize complex narratives—reinterpreting it in a contemporary key to depict the network of relationships that constitutes modern society.

Each painting depicts an autonomous scene: fragments of daily life, encounters, domestic and public spaces, moments of intimacy and interaction. However, as in traditional polyptychs, the individual images are not isolated. Each scene visually and symbolically connects with the others, generating a broader narrative that emerges only when the work is viewed as a whole.

The result is a composition in which each panel retains its own identity while contributing to a collective image. The figures, environments, and situations depicted interact with one another through iconographic references, narrative continuity, and formal correspondences, creating a visual structure that invites the viewer to move between the images, establishing personal connections and interpretations.

In this sense, DOMINO is not merely a collection of paintings, but a narrative device: a visual structure suggesting the idea of a community made up of diverse yet interdependent individuals. The work reflects on how people’s lives intertwine—sometimes deeply, sometimes fleetingly—yet always contribute to forming a shared fabric.

The polyptych has been exhibited in institutional venues, where its monumental scale and modular structure allow for direct dialogue with the museum space and the public, inviting viewers to explore the work visually as a landscape of interconnected stories.
